Goal: Venezia in Musica!

December 08, 2010 There are many places where Christmas concerts are taking place in these days. As in Zwickau, for example, where the International Robert Schumann Choir Competition was held only a few weeks ago.
We remember: During the distinction at the Robert Schumann memorial and as part of the Opening concert, too, the “Kammerchor des Clara Wieck Gymnasiums Zwickau” sang for the welcoming of the international participant choirs.

On December 9, the choir invites to its third of this year’s Christmas concerts in the Christuskirche in Zwickau/Planitz. They are going to raise funds here, because the choir’s goal for the year to come is a very special one:

In 2011 they will rise to the challenge of an international competition again, after their successes in Riva in 2002 and Budapest in 2007. Venice and “Venezia in Musica” is waiting for them! A fundraising campaign shall help to finance the trip.

Many choirs are using the possibility of concerts and other activities to collect some money for their trips to international competitions and festivals. For example, the commitment of the choir “Voices of Unity” from the United States has already paid off some months ago. First they started the “Dreams of Gold Choir Olympic Campaign” and then they actually became one of the Champions at the World Choir Games in Shaoxing!

By the way, we’ve been providing some ideas and tips for fundraising and sponsoring campaigns for all choirs on our website. It’s worth checking it out!
