Hội An Lampion Festival – now in Wernigerode!Jun 27th, 2013 | By hen | Category: Choir Events, Featured Articles, Top Post, Vietnam International Choir Competition
Choirs that recently participated in the 3rd Vietnam International Choir Competition Hội An 2013 experienced the “Legendary Night of Hội An”: All electric lights in the city were turned off, only a few little light beacons illuminated the streets. Colorful lampions everywhere, and people were putting little paper boats with lights on the dark river. A perfect dream!
For those who could not take part in Hội An there’s great and maybe surprising news: The festival of lights in Hội An can also be experienced in Wernigerode in Germany at the end of July. Following the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition the first Hội An Lampion Festival will be held here.
Hundreds of colorful lampions are going to turn the city in a sea of lights. Just like in Vietnam, where life is taking place mainly outside in the streets, Vietnamese traders, cooks and artists will present their handcraft and traditions around the Wernigerode town hall.
Music and Dance troupes will show the typical musical styling and traditional folklore. One of them is the Vietnam Children Choir Sol Art from Ha Noi. In 2011 Sol Art already participated in the International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition and won the Audience Prize, which is awarded by the Wernigerode residents themselves. In 2013 they come back for the 8th International Johannes Brahms Choir Festival and Competition from July 17 – 21 competing in the Folklore category. Good luck!
