In Manado, Indonesia the workshops of the Archipelago Music and Song Festival took place in collaboration with the Asia Pacific Choir Games 2013. Lecturers were Jonathan Velasco (Philippines), Fred Sjöberg (Sweden), Henri Pompidor (Thailand/France) und Romāns Vanags (Latvia).

Romāns, as one of the Artistic Directors of the World Choir Games 2014 in Riga, Latvia presented the Latvian choral traditions and the extraordinary Song & Dance Celebration to roughly 100 choir conductors in the audience. Also he talked about the backgrounds of musical education in Latvia and introduced all details of the World Choir Games 2014 to them featuring competition categories, event schedule and highlights. At the end the conductors were put into World Choir Games mood visually and musically by watching the video of “My Song”.

Following the presentation their interest was very high. Nearly all of them grabbed a World Choir Games brochure to learn more details afterwards. Finally, Aida Swenson, Artistic Director of the Asia Pacific Choir Games in Indonesia called all conductors: “Let’s sing in Riga”.

We’ll be there! And you?
