Unbelievable! Yesterday Evening the Riga Mezaparks was just full of music lovers and you could even feel it in the air.

Before the event began at 9pm heavy rain didn’t refuse people to come to the Mezaparks and enjoy the atmosphere. Fortunately, rain stopped on time for the start of the big event and it turned out to be a great and dry evening!

Latvia showed its traditional face and presented in the first part of the event traditional Latvian Folk Songs with an incredible huge number of choir singers: 10 000 Latvian singers plus 5000 internationals. In the second part, different nations like Indonesia and Africa among others showcased themselves to the audiences with great songs from their countries followed by “Songs for the World” and the spirits were lifted to a new climax! Choral masters from all over the world joined the conductor’s stand and directed this amazing choir of 15 000 singers. Great experience for both parts, singers and conductors!

Especially the traditional African American Spiritual “Oh Happy Day” conducted by Andre Thomas and the title song of the World Choir Games “My Song” inspired the audience to singing and clapping along!

Now we hope to have more of these great experiences and choral moments at the second part of the World Choir Games, which is going to start tomorrow with the great Parade of Nations through Riga City Center!
